What’s happening inside of me?
Healthy Kidneys are fun graphic resources that will help you understand how your kidneys work, how your kidneys affect other parts of your body and how you can help your kidneys help your body!
This resource helps children, youth and families learn to live well with kidney disease.
There are 15 modules covering many topics about kidney health. Each module has a pre-school section, a school-age section and an adolescent section. There is a separate booklet for your family or caregiver and a fun activity sheet with each module.
The 16th module is a complete glossary of all highlighted terms in the modules with easy to understand definitions. The pictures in the glossary will give you clues or reminders and help you to connect with the meaning of the words you hear often.
Use of the modules is meant to supplement regular visits with a healthcare team, intending to provide a way of starting conversations about kidney disease and kidney disease management. These modules do not replace discussions patients and families should have with their care providers.
